Color - 52 Week Project

Atomic Collars put out a call for models to showoff some of their collars. About A Dog Photography happily snagged the images. The wonderful Sarge happily modeled (he's a BIG 9 month old pup!) and the spunky, ball crazy Steve also rocked a couple of Atomic Collars.

We found some graffiti that fits perfectly into the color theme for this week! Granted it is a very small piece of graffiti but the boys were able to rock it.

The next super star model - Steve! I love his nose-hawk!

Then the handsome Sarge showed off his stuff! He's a stunning 9 month old pup! He will be fun to work with in the future!

I love Sarge's profile! And he really pops against the blue!

Then & Now - 52 Week Project

This week's theme was then and now. Since a 10 month old pup, Icey has been the star model in front of the lens.  She happily helped me take some now pictures for a couple of dog cookies.

She has shrunk!!!! Haha! The first picture is from 2007, when Icey was a year old pup. Taken with my Canon Powershot A95, its not horrible having been done with a point and shoot. The background is from my apartment at the time. On the right is the well aged princess at lovely 9 years old.

Another then and now. The first was taken in 2011, in front of a neighbor's garage with my D300s and a nifty fifty, shot of course at f1.8. On the right, the same head tilt, different boots and same bandana! Shot with my D300s and 17-50mm at f3.5 I believe. I've been wanting to recreate this image for a while. Can't say I'm solidly in love with the background, but it was fun to play with!

Occasionally there's a mishap with the boots...

And since we were out and about, we did some exploring. Icey happily modeled for cookies.

Love my big rottie baby! Next up check out the then and now from Sydney & MAC Creative Designs - Pet Photography & Portraits - Washington DC Metro Area!

52 Week Project - Something New

This week's theme was something new. Around here there is tons of new things going on with the creation of Atomic Collars!

Atomic Collars is my newly launched collar business that features upcycled men's belts paired with patterns from ties, tops, pillowcases and more to make some pretty awesome collars!

Why shouldn't your dog be as well dressed as you? (Plus our collars are the BOMB at Atomic Collars!)

•••
Atomic Collars pairs wickedly with my mad dog photography skills here at About A Dog Photography. It also goes well with a cluttered kitchen table turned sewing station.... The pink paisley is a tie that hasn't been named, the blue is a belt, the bright red and yellow is a scrap from Burning Paisley, while Abassador (the striped blue one) sits on some newly acquired fat quarters for bow ties...

A handful of unfinished Antsy bow ties!

Axle, my pouty face pup, wondering why I have the camera pointed in his face and am not throwing the ball. He's also rocking a pattern called Carnival.

New and exciting things to come! Americana Plaid, and a pair of green swim trunks in the top bag, and one of the spring patterns made from a ladies blouse (these are super sneak peeks as they haven't been announced yet!)

This is also a new pattern... yes its a tie. And it is very... flamboyant and a bit boggling at the same time. It doesn't have a name yet, so if you have any ideas on what to call this pattern, let me know!

A box of "blanks" - these are pieces of patterns (from ties, shirts, pillowcases and more!) all prepped and sewn onto belts. They are "blank" due to not having a style or size. From the top is Greens, Dinomite, Dottie and Blocked. A smidge of Spaceman and Pinky can also be seen.
A pile of collars! Ooo la la look at all the patterns! And yes I can name them all (there may be a point when I won't be able to....). Crazy Garden, Dots Dashes, Chaotic Celtic, Chaotic, China Blue, Orange You Glad, Monster Mash, Summertime, Pixel and a second China Blue. Whew!

China Blue - this pair of collars sports patterns from the same pillowcase!!!! Super Awesome!

Introducing Orange You Glad! A brand spanking new pattern, not even on the website or FB yet! Isn't she a stunning piece? And guess where the pattern comes from.... a dishrag!

Since each of the Atomic Collars patterns is paired with a belt, each one is flexible and at the same time strong and durable.

I asked Axle to model for me. This is what I got...

Icey on the other hand is pro at modeling. She's rocking Chaotic.

Bender's thoughts on modeling...

He's wearing Atom in a martingale style. The Atom is made from a tie! This was one of the first collars I created!

This is the something new that has been happening around the About A Dog headquarters! Next stop over to Washington DC Metro Area Pet Photography and Custom Portraits, Sydney & MAC Creative Designs!

52 Week Project - Something Silly

This theme was picked by me! After recently re-finding the googly eyes for my gang, I decided to challenge the rest of the group to capture something silly about their subjects!

And who can resist the hilarity of googly eyes and a lime green wig on Bender!!!

Axle wasn't up for doing much modeling, since the weather was so nice outside. He preferred to play with the assorted sticks in the yard.

Icey happily donned the black curly wig and googly eyes in exchange for treats. Also, I'm super glad the table is as heavy duty as it is - nothing like a 90 lb rottie on top of glass!

Then she rocked the green wig and googly eyes!

This is my favorite image and it totally cracks me up!
